Fat grafting is a great way to create youthful lower eyelid fullness with long-lasting and enduring results. Fat grafting means transferring a patient’s own fat tissue to different areas of the face and/or body to create more volume. The surgeon harvests fat from areas of the body such as the abdomen, thigh, or hip area and then purifies it for reinjection. After this cleansing process, the fat can be injected into the eyelid. A downside to fat grafting is that your body tends to reabsorb 30 to 50% of the injected fat. As a result, fat grafting may potentially require repeated treatments. There also may be a few days to weeks of post-operative swelling and bruising.
This procedure will simultaneously create youthful eyelids through fat transposition, muscle release, and muscle suspension.
